Screenwriter/Producer visits NewhouseNYC class for discussion

    October 14, 2016

Profile photo of Michael Weber '00Last week our NewhouseNYC students were treated to a discussion with a special guest who discussed what it takes to succeed in Hollywood. Screenwriter and producer Michael H. Weber ’00 came to Syracuse University’s Fisher Center to share details with the students on how he broke into the film industry, and did it while living in NYC instead of LA.

The screenwriter and producer of various studio and independent films, Weber, along with Scott Neustadter, adapted The Fault in Our Stars, which opened as the #1 movie in America in 2014 and went on to gross more than $300 million worldwide. Weber also co-wrote (500) Days of Summer, which was nominated for "Best Feature—Comedy" at the Golden Globe Awards and earned him an Independent Spirit Award and a Golden Satellite Award for Best Screenplay of the Year.

What did the students think? Well, the NewhouseNYC students shared their thoughts on the discussion and what they took away from the talk on the NewhouseNYC blog. Check it out!
