Wynn Newhouse 2010 Awards Exhibition
April 27, 2011
Invited guests recently attended a well received reception for the Wynn Newhouse 2010 Awards Exhibition at the Palitz Gallery. The awards, conceived in 2005, are designed to draw attention to the acheivements of artists of excellence who happen to have disabilities.
Samuel I. and Victoria Newhouse, who fund the annual art show through the SI Newhouse Foundation, were on hand to admire the artwork and meet the winning artists. The exhibition contains four sculptures, a painting and a video installation. There is a second video displaying the works of five runners-up.
Each winner receives a portion of a $60,000 per year allotment from the foundation so that he or she can continue their work. Indeed, all of the artists are thankful for the opportunities that are created through the financial boost winning the award provides.
The exhibition runs through May 5. Exhibition hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m - 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
