WhitmanNYC alumni club host's Dr. Daryl Gross
April 2, 2013
It is a tradition that SU's Athletic Director Dr. Daryl Gross speaks at an event hosted by the WhitmanNYC alumni club during Big East Week. It is also a tradition for guests to fill the room, excited to see what he has to say.
Certainly this year's event at the Lubin House was no different. And with a full room as anticipated Dr. Gross proceeded to share his thoughts on SU's move to the ACC its visibility in NYC saying that it is almost guaranteed that the ACC basketball tournament will come to New York and that 14 our of 15 ACC athletic directors are in favor of it. A further expansion of the ACC is unlikely according to the AD. Gross also boasted that Syracuse is one of only a couple schools whos men's and women's basketball teams are both in the top 25.
Before wrapping up Dr. Gross let the crowd know that The Learfield Cup, awarded based on overall athletic success by the National Association of Collegiate Diretors of Athletics (NACDA), had SU in 15th place - out of 195 D-I schools - based on its fall success in football, men's cross-country, field hockey and men's soccer.
