An Unbroken Bond by Edie Lutnick

    March 6, 2012

SU Grad and author Edie Lutnick spoke about the untold story of how the 658 Cantor Fitzgerald families faced the tragedy of 9/11 and beyond at her book reception in February. Edie is Co-Founder, Officer and Executive Director of the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, a not for profit established to address the short and long term needs of victims of terrorism, natural disasters and emergencies. In the video clip, Edie explains how they have fought their way through various issues for the past 10 years in order to fulfill the legacy of the 9/11 victims.

In ‘An Unbroken Bond,’ Edie recalls the tragic and life changing day when she lost her brother Gary on September 11th.  Edie had taken care of and raised Gary since their parents died at an early age. In the video below, Edie remembers what it was like being the care taker of her younger brother while studying at Syracuse University for a joint JD and MBA program.

Her older brother, Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, survived the attacks on 9/11 because he was taking his son to his first day of kindergarten. Every employee who showed up to work that day, died.  Howard explains how the company was affected by the attacks in this video.
