    Home to major publications and television networks, New York City is one of the world’s major centers for journalism, publishing, and the media. Here are just a few of the many opportunities SU students have to gain an up-close perspective.

    • Newhouse in NYC—Newhouse in NYC is a one-semester program that provides students with a unique opportunity to take specialized coursework in New York City while working part time as interns at various media companies.     • Bill Glavin Magazine Industry Trip—This three-day trip enables magazine majors to meet and form connections with writers and editors at diverse publications headquartered in New York City. The program was established by Stacy Mindich ’86 in honor of the Newhouse School’s legendary magazine journalism professor, Bill Glavin. Learn more...
    • CABLEready Graduate Industry Seminar—Graduate students in the television-radio-film department spend a week in NYC meeting with professionals from all areas of the industry, attending panel discussions and presentations by Newhouse alumni, and touring major television network facilities and show sets.
    • Magazine, Newspaper, Online Journalism Benchmark Trip—This trip to NYC takes students to the offices of magazine publishers, exposing them to the workplace and to editors who give advice about breaking into the magazine business.
    • Public Relations Benchmark Trips—Three trips per year offer more than 60 seniors and graduate students the opportunity to learn about public relations as it’s practiced in New York City, which many consider to be the nerve center of the field.
    • M.S. in Communications Management Residency—This program brings together mid- to senior-level communications professionals who are master’s degree candidates at SU–and many high-ranking invited speakers–from across the U.S. and many foreign countries. Learn more...
